Timothy Whealon’s lighter-than-air Southampton glass house, a getaway for a young and active family, takes it cues from the surrounding countryside, with a beachy feel and color palette borrowed from the verdant gardens, trees and meadows. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls framed in charcoal-painted steel define and accentuate the view. An open design featuring floors that were bleached, stained and hand-painted a subtle gray-green tone unify the rooms throughout. In the family-friendly den above, a pair of vintage steel-framed natural rattan PK-22 chairs by Poul Kjaerholm and a modern sectional sofa provide comfortable, informal seating. The throw pillows are in patterns by Austrian Wiener Werkstatte architect Josef Hoffmann. Timothy Whealon designed the Modernist-style biomorphic coffee table of bleached mahogany.

The living room, with stunning views of the countryside, features Modernist seating by Milo Baughman: a 1970s swivel chair and pair of arm chairs upholstered in a Swedish graphic pattern. A games table with lively tomato-red pouf seating and a grand piano cue entertainment as the theme of this room. The poured resin painting at left is by Markus Linnenbrink. The open sides of the armchairs and open-frame coffee table contribute to the light and airy feeling.
