Affortunato Gory was an influential Italian sculptor active between 1895 and 1925. Hailing from Florence, he honed his artistic skills at the esteemed Accademia di Belle Arti under the guidance of Augusto Rivalta. In the early 20th century, Gory relocated to Paris, where he furthered his studies under the renowned sculptor Victorien-Antoine Basset.
 
Gory gained recognition for his captivating busts and statuettes of young women, frequently exhibited at the prestigious Salon des Artistes Français. His works predominantly feature female and historical figures, showcasing his mastery of the chryselephantine technique, which combines marble, ivory, and bronze to create stunningly elegant sculptures. Through his artistry, Gory has left a lasting impact on the world of sculpture, celebrated for both his technical skill and his sensitive portrayals of the female form.
