Amanda Hyatt: Celebrated Artist and Educator

With over 40 solo exhibitions and numerous international group shows, Amanda Hyatt has made a significant mark in the art world. Growing up in Eltham, Victoria, near the historic artist colony Montsalvat, Amanda was deeply influenced by the Australian tonal-realist painters of the early 20th century, such as Arthur Streeton, Walter Withers, and Tom Roberts. Their exploration of tone, light, and atmosphere resonates in her own artistic philosophy.
Amanda strives to honor the traditional impressionist realism of the Heidelberg School while infusing her work with Zen energy and spontaneity. She believes in capturing the essence of light through careful observation and simplification of her subjects. Her approach involves balancing the initial composition, selecting subtle colors, and consistently applying light, middle, and dark tones to create a magical mood. Amanda aims for her paintings to invite viewers to explore the simplicity of each brushstroke, offering maximum impact and engagement.
Her commissions include prominent figures such as Professor Peter Doherty, Nobel Laureate for Science and Medicine, Sir Malcolm McIntosh, former Chief Executive of CSIRO, and Professor Robin Batterham, Chief Scientist of Australia.
