Amanda Richards focuses her practice on functional sculpture, each piece is cast by hand allowing the material composition to vary. The chaotic metal is encapsulated in its smooth resin shell creating a dreamlike glowing pearl. She came across the idea for this collection while looking through a box of metal dinnerware in an antique shop. All had been lost from their original set. By melting these pieces into her hand sculpted forms, she found a way to give these heirlooms new life.
