Established in 2010, Debra Folz is a furniture & object design firm with production located throughout Rhode Island. Debra holds an undergraduate degree in Interior Design from Suffolk University and a master’s degree in furniture design from The Rhode Island School of Design. This Studio realizes furniture and home accessory objects for exhibition and production through material exploration & conceptual curiosity. Motivated by the translation of traditional craft and manufacturing methods into contemporary visual languages, collaboration & the ambition to learn new techniques is key to her process. Our production prioritizes and supports American manufacturing by building trusted and rewarding relationships with highly skilled craftspeople throughout the New England region. Debra’s work has been featured in such publications as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Dwell, Surface, Elle, Architectural Digest and others. Debra was the recipient of the 5 Under 40 Award by New England Magazine, The Women in the Arts [Ma-Nwma], The Most Innovative Product Award by Architectural Digest Show, and selected as one of the 50 Most Stylish Bostonians by The Boston Globe. By alongside her studio practice, Debra has contributed to collegiate design education since 2010 by leading creative coursework at The Rhode Island School of Design, Parsons, and Suffolk University; where she received The Award for Teaching Excellence in 2015.
