Don Shoemaker
American, 1920 - 1990
Furniture designer Don Shoemaker was from Nebraska and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. In the late 1940s, he fell in love with Mexico following his honeymoon trip. In the late 1950s, Don started a furniture factory Senal S.A. in Mexico where he designed produced modern interpretations of traditional Mexican furnishings. His work was exported to the United States and globally and his popular designs include the Sling Sloucher chair, Sling Swinger chair, the Suspension stool and the Coffee tables. Don Shoemaker furniture chairs tables and decorative objects remain popular worldwide.
