Doria Moodie

Canadian, 1970
Doria Moodie is a full-time artist based in Whistler, BC, represented by Mountain Galleries at the Fairmont Hotels in Whistler, Banff, and Jasper. A passionate advocate for British Columbia's bear populations—including black bears, spirit bears, and grizzlies—Doria spends countless hours observing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitats to create large, intimate portraits. She served as an artist in residence for three years at Knight Inlet Lodge in the Great Bear Rainforest and has recently worked at the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary in northern BC. Additionally, Doria holds the title of official artist for the Grizzly Bear Foundation (GBF) and is an active board member.
In her work, Doria also captures the essence of childhood, frequently painting groups of young skiers that tell a story, as well as landscapes that offer fresh perspectives on the beauty of the environment.
An associate member (AFCA) of the Federation of Canadian Artists and a founding member of Whistler Out-of-Bounds Artists, Doria’s artwork is featured in collections worldwide.
Before dedicating herself fully to art, Doria taught in the Vancouver French Immersion program and served on the board of the Vancouver chapter of Room to Read, an organization dedicated to promoting literacy and gender equality in developing countries.
