Fabienne Delacroix
French, 1972
Artist Bio: Fabienne Delacroix
Fabienne Delacroix, born in 1972 into a family of artists, has been immersed in the worlds of literature, painting, and music from a young age. This rich artistic upbringing sparked her initial creative passions and laid the foundation for her future career.
After earning a master’s degree in management in 1994, Fabienne dedicated herself entirely to painting. Her journey gained momentum when Axelle Fine Arts, a publisher and art dealer based in New York, began to represent her exclusively, propelling her into the art world. Her works have since been exhibited in major American cities such as Washington DC, New York, Seattle, Boston, San Francisco, and New Orleans, as well as internationally in Korea and Japan, particularly in Tokyo and Yokohama.
In 1996, following the success of her first three lithographs, Fabienne expanded her portfolio with a range of derivative products, including posters, serigraphs, pigment prints, and calendars, which were distributed in galleries and at international fairs.
As her reputation grew, she received numerous prestigious commissions. In 1997 and 1998, NBA star John Starks commissioned her to create the official images for the Annual Celebrity Benefit and Golf Classic, with the posters raising significant funds for the John Stark Foundation, which supports inner-city youth. Additionally, she was invited by YES, a producer of the annual celebrity AIDS benefit Boathouse Rock, to create artwork for their seventh annual celebration in Central Park, with proceeds supporting AMFAR (American Foundation for AIDS Research).
In 1999, Fabienne was selected as the official artist for the Special Olympics World Summer Games, producing three images for the event in North Carolina. She also donated a painting to benefit the New York Fire Department after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and supported humanitarian efforts following the 2003 earthquake in Algeria.
Recently, in response to the catastrophic fires in Australia, a painting was sold in New York, with proceeds donated to the WWF to aid wildlife recovery efforts.
In France, her art has adorned the stage for opera recitals performed by mezzo-soprano Malika Bellaribi Le Moal at the Théâtre du Renard in Paris and other major cities. In 2021, she created artwork for the poster of an adaptation of Maupassant’s "Une vie," directed by Annie Vergne at the Guichet Montparnasse Theater.
Fabienne’s illustrated book "Paris Happy Days" was published in 2017, followed by an illustrated version of “Sophie’s Misfortunes” in December 2020, which received a prize at the Biennale of Illustration in Bratislava in 2021.
Her works have entered notable collections, including the International Museum of Naive Art in Magog, Quebec, and the Museum of Naive and Intuitive Art in Bulgaria. In 2023, two paintings were added to the BIBIANA museum in Bratislava, with more set to join the MIDAN Museum and the Max Fourny collection by spring 2024.
Beyond the art world, Fabienne's creations have been featured on various products made in France, including literary gourmet chocolates and art puzzles. A member of the Maison des Artistes since 1996 and the Taylor Foundation since 2019, Fabienne Delacroix continues to explore the poetic past through her evocative artwork.
