Fakasaka

Brazilian
Grounded in a distinctive blend of brutalism and artisanal craftsmanship, FAKASAKA Design embodies a contemporary approach to sculptural form, meticulously crafted through free-form techniques. Founded by Fernando Akasaka, the studio is driven by a commitment to creating enduring, one-of-a-kind pieces. Fernando's artistic journey is rooted in a lifelong dedication to sculpture and craftsmanship, where manual processes play a pivotal role in shaping each creation, fostering a culture of boundary-pushing experimentation and refinement.

Located in Brazil, Fernando Akasaka's design ethos centers on continuous self-challenge and innovation. His process involves rigorous testing of textures and structural integrity, ensuring each design seamlessly integrates functionality, texture, and spatial dynamics.

In 2023, FAKASAKA Design welcomed a new collaborator, Alexia Akasaka, Fernando's daughter. Alexia recently graduated from the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London in 2024, following her foundational studies at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Her educational background in spatial and architectural design has profoundly influenced her contributions to FAKASAKA, exemplified by her inaugural piece, the Ava Bench, which marks a significant addition to the studio's evolving design philosophy.
