Austrian
Franz Bergmann (1838-1894) was an Austrian sculptor who is best known for his production of small bronze figures, often depicting animals and genre scenes. He established his own foundry in Vienna in 1860, where he began to create a range of small bronze figures, which he produced in large quantities for export to Europe and the United States. Bergmann's work was highly sought after and collected during his lifetime, and it remains popular among collectors and enthusiasts today. His bronze figures are characterized by their finely detailed surfaces and naturalistic forms, and they are highly valued for their quality and craftsmanship. Bergmann's legacy has been continued by subsequent generations of his family, who continue to produce small bronze figures using his traditional techniques and designs.
