Inês Schertel

Brazilian
Born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Inês Schertel relocated to São Paulo, where she spent much of her adult life before settling on a farm surrounded by mountains in São Francisco de Paula in 2012. Here, together with her husband Neco Schertel, she tends to 300 sheep, which provide the wool for her distinctive design objects.

Inês Schertel holds a degree in architecture from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Her artistic journey began with a focus on plastic arts, lithography, and watercolor painting, among other mediums, before she discovered her passion for wool. Her expertise in wool felting, a hand-pressing technique dating back 6,000 years, was honed during her travels through Central Asia and Europe.
