Jennifer Webb: Artist and Explorer
Jennifer Webb grew up in rural New South Wales before making the typical transition to Melbourne for her tertiary studies. From a young age, her artistic talent was evident; at just eleven years old, one parent recognized her innate ability and gifted her oil paints. However, the other parent discouraged her from pursuing art in school, prioritizing a more conventional career path.
Despite these challenges, Jennifer's passion for art flourished. At the age of thirteen, she participated in an adult group exhibition and sold out her pieces, further igniting her determination, even as critics insisted that “art is not a real career.” This spurred her to engage in intensive private art studies, covering theory, history, and practical techniques, all while balancing two careers in the health field.
Travel and painting were her childhood aspirations, and she actively pursued both. It was her time living in Brazil that solidified her artistic career, allowing her to immerse herself in a new culture and creative environment.
Throughout her artistic journey, Jennifer has explored a wide range of themes and concepts, but three enduring series have emerged: The Ocean, Figures, and City Skylines. Each series reflects her evolving perspective and deep connection to the world around her, showcasing her unique voice as an artist.
