Jules Olitski

Jules Olitski (1922–2007) was an American abstract painter. He is best known for his Color Field paintings, which combined elements of classical modernism with Abstract Expressionism. His work is characterized by its vivid colors, bold brush strokes, and complex compositions. Olitski was born in Snovsk, Ukraine, and immigrated to the United States in 1922. He studied at the National Academy of Design in New York City and later taught at the Pratt Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Olitski's work was featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout his career, and he was also the recipient of several awards, including the National Medal of Arts in 1993.
