Established in 1873, the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios de São Paulo originated as a School for Arts and Crafts under the patronage of prominent coffee merchants. Founded within the Freemason tradition, this private institution aimed to impart essential skills in arts, crafts, trade, agriculture, and industry to local residents and workers. Notably, the school's carpentry division played a pivotal role in furnishing prestigious establishments including the Sheraton River, Manaus Tropical Hotel, Transamerica in São Paulo, and Cumbica International Airport. Many furniture designs crafted by Liceu de Artes remain highly sought-after and influential in contemporary settings.
