Paolo Piva
Italian, 1950
Paolo Piva (1950-2017) was an Italian architect and designer known for his work in furniture and industrial design. He was born in Adria, Italy, and studied architecture at the University of Venice.
After graduating, Piva worked for several years as an architect, but eventually turned to industrial design, where he quickly made a name for himself. He was particularly well-known for his work in furniture design, and his designs were characterized by their minimalist lines and use of new materials such as steel, glass, and plastic.
Piva's furniture designs were highly sought-after by collectors and design enthusiasts, and he created pieces for a number of well-known companies including B&B Italia, Cassina, and Knoll. Some of his most famous designs include the Alanda coffee table for B&B Italia and the Piva armchair for Knoll.
In addition to his work in furniture design, Piva also designed a number of important buildings and interiors in Italy and abroad. One of his most famous architectural works is the UNA Hotel in Venice, which he designed in collaboration with architect Attilio Stocchi.
Piva's work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, and he was the recipient of numerous awards and honors throughout his career. Despite his many accomplishments, Piva remained dedicated to his work and was known for his passion for design and innovation.
