Poul Henningsen
Danish, 1894 - 1967
Son of Danish actress Agnes Henningsen, Poul Henningsen was born in Copenhagen and studied at The Technical School at Frederiksberg, Denmark and at the Technical College in Copenhagen. Poul began his career practicing traditional architecture but his professional interests changed over time. Poul was forced to flee to Sweden during WWII and after the war he began his collaboration with Louis Poulsen. Henningsen’s pioneering work focused on the relations between light structures, glare, shadows and color reproduction. Poul Henningsen lamps furniture and designs remain popular today.
