Verner Panton was a Danish designer who played a significant role in the development of modern furniture design during the 1960s and 1970s. He was born on February 13, 1926, in Gamtofte, Denmark, and died on September 5, 1998, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

He is perhaps best known for his Panton Chair, a molded plastic chair that was the first to be produced in a single piece.
