Audrey Hepburn

British
Audrey Hepburn (1929–1993) was an iconic actress, fashion icon, and humanitarian who rose to fame in the 1950s and 1960s. Born in Brussels, Belgium, she spent her youth in Nazi-occupied Holland during World War II before studying ballet and acting in Amsterdam and London. Her breakout role in Roman Holiday (1953) earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress, launching a legendary career that included beloved films such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961), Sabrina (1954), Funny Face (1957), Charade (1963), and My Fair Lady (1964).
Renowned for her elegance and grace, Hepburn also became a fashion icon, collaborating closely with designer Hubert de Givenchy to define timeless style. In the late 1960s, she stepped away from Hollywood to focus on her family and later devoted herself to humanitarian work as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador. Traveling to famine-stricken regions across Latin America, Africa, and Asia, she worked tirelessly to aid children in need.
For her extraordinary efforts, Hepburn was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. An enduring symbol of beauty, talent, and compassion, Audrey Hepburn’s legacy continues to inspire generations.
