American, 1892 - 1962
Founded by Herman Marcus and his sons, William and George Elder in 1892. Prior to starting his own company, Marcus worked at Tiffany & Co. and partnered with George Jacque and Theodore B. Starr. Located in New York, Marcus & Co. offerred Revivalist style, Egyptian inspired pieces, Renaissance Revival and Mughal styles along with more standard diamond and platinum pieces. Following the Great Depression, Marcus & Co. was sold to Gimble Brother's and later merged with Black, Starr and Frost in 1962. Vintage Marcus Co Estate Jewelry remains popular today.
