Description
Published by Jonathan Cape, 1950.
First UK Edition
Hemingway wrote Across the River and into the Trees in 1948-49 after having met the 19-year-old Adriana Ivancich while on a trip to Italy. She became the basis for Renata, the young woman in the book with whom a dying military officer falls in love. Panned by the critics upon first publication, it is now considered one of the American writer's major works. This attractive book would make a good addition to the library of any Hemingway lover. -
