Description
“The Big Nude” sumo book with stand by Helmut Newton. Bound printed paper, signed and numbered to interior ‘Helmut Newton’. This book is number 9,908 of 10,000 from the first edition published by Taschen and retains original Philippe Starck chrome-plated steel stand book stand. The book measures 3.25 h × 20.5 w × 28 d in (8 × 52 × 71 cm), and the stand measures 29.5 H × 24.5 W × 25 D in (75 × 62 × 63 cm).
About the Manufacturer: From his humble beginning selling comic books in his native Cologne to his rapidly expanding book publishing empire, Benedikt Taschen has been all about living large – literally. Sumo, a 464-page, 66-pound compendium of Helmut Newton’s photography is on of the largest and heaviest books ever produced – it comes with its own display stand – and among the most expensive, too. The first copy in a limited edition was published in 1999 and signed by many of the celebrities whose images appear in its pages sold at auction for $364,000. TASCHEN’s success derives from his personality: he publishes books that reflect his own diverse personal enthusiasms. - More Information
