Inscribed by author. Herzog (1919-2012) was a French mountaineer who led this remarkable ascent of Annapurna, one of the highest mountains in the world. This French expedition was the first to climb over 8000 feet. They also explored, reconnoitred and climbed all within one season and without the use of supplemental oxygen. It was a historic climb.

This bestselling book which includes an introduction by Eric Shipton inspired a generation of mountaineers. Inscribed copies are scarce.
