Rococo Style Sevres Style Porcelain and Ormolu Carriage Clock
French, Late 19th Century
Height 18cm, width 10cm, depth 8.5cm
The carriage clock is of rectangular form and is crafted with a rectangular ormolu case set with Sevres-style porcelain plaques to each side. The front plaque features a pink ground with gilt arabesques, and the clock dial is painted with black Roman numerals on white circles to the centre, with ormolu hands and a putto to the centre of the numerals. The plaques to either side of the clock are decorated with pink and gilt borders, and each feature a central painted putto. The back of the clock is set with a pane of glass to reveal the mechanism, and all are set on a stepped unadorned ormolu base. -
