$ 69,000
  • Description
    Three-piece Louis XV Rococo style porcelain and ormolu clock set

    French, Late 19th Century

    Clock: Height 82cm, width 62, depth 28cm

    Candelabra: Height 76cm, diameter 22cm

    Comprising of a mantel clock and pair of candelabra, this three-piece clock set is crafted from porcelain and ormolu in the Rococo Sèvres style of Louis XV.

    Supported by a long shaped gilt bronze base, the central mantel clock is decorated with an array of Rococo style detailing, including a floral garland held by two flanking cherubs. The circular clock dial itself is inscribed with Roman numeral indices and mounted within a vase shaped case. The vase is decorated and painted in the identifiable Sèvres style, with parcel gilt details and a painted scene of flying putti on a cobalt blue porcelain ground.

    The flanking candelabra are of conforming style, each featuring a similar vase shaped body, painted instead with a fête galante scene and mounted either side with satyr head masks. From the top of the vase, each candelabrum features seven ormolu light branches, with foliate and scrolled detailing.

    Each vase's painted scene is signed 'A. Daret'.
