Cigarette Box as a Miniature Model of a Gas Heater Flavel Debonair
-
Description
This is a very unusual model of a Gas Heater made as a cigarette box and presented to the designer. Sidney Flavel was a British manufacturer, established in the early 19th century and one of the first companies in England to produce a gas stove in 1880. At the end of the second World War the company was struggling, but then in 1961 the Flavel Debonair gas heater was created, due partly to the modern design, it was a phenomenal success. Most homes in England after the war did not have central heating. Many homes were heated with coal, and this provided a clean modern alternative. This little model was presented to the creator V. W. Stanton by Favel in 1965 as a token of appreciation. The model is made from sterling silver, it is in perfect condition and was made by S.J. Rose & Company a London silversmith. A unique conversation piece.
