Chinese hardstone model of cherry blossom in a cloisonné enamel planter

$ 9,500
  • Description
    Chinese hardstone model of cherry blossom in a cloisonné enamel planter
    Chinese, 20th Century
    Height 57cm, width 52cm, depth 40cm

    This exquisite tree model is crafted from a beautiful pink-hued rose quartz, metal, and cloisonné enamel. In Chinese culture, cherry blossoms are symbolic of beauty, power, and femininity making this model a very desirable addition to a female’s collection of objet d’art.

    The tree is ‘planted’ in an elegant cloisonné enamel plant pot, adored with several chrysanthemums. The flower choice is important as in China chrysanthemums symbolise happiness and vitality. The pink and yellow flowers are placed among a sea of cloud-shaped thin wires filled with a bold blue enamel, appearing as if the floral composition is floating in the sky. Four gilt bands decorate various parts of the cloisonné enamelled planter.

    Emerging from the cloisonné enamelled planter is a metal tree trunk with many thread-covered wire branches. Attached to these are delicate rose quartz petals centred by bright yellow beads, recreating the look of a cherry blossom flower.

    Of an impressive size and depicting an important symbol of Chinese culture, this tree model can be displayed, for example, on one’s console table.
