French Green-Glazed Pot

Dimensions: 17″H x 19 3/4″Diameter

A deep emerald green envelops this large, French earthen pot. Made towards the end of the 19th century, this wonderful vessel has had its exterior glazed, not only providing its covetable green color, but also giving the pot its smooth finish. Towards the lip of the pot, four large monkey ear handles aid transporting the vessel, which rests on a squat pedestal. There are some areas where the glaze has been compromised, which only adds to the piece’s character. The pot is fully functional and is equipped with a drain. c.1890.
