Figural Lighter English Tenement House Model Building
-
Description
A whimsical figural pocket Lighter designed and made by Karel Bartosik a British silversmith in 1977. Signed KTB and London Hallmarks for sterling silver c. 1977. Incredible detailed workmanship. Bartosik was born in England of Czech and Dutch parents. Although Bartosik was born in England he lived in Czechoslovakia from 1946 to 1967. When he moved back to England he worked for Andrew Grima in London and later had his own studio while teaching at the Royal College of Art. His work is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington, London.
Designed with great detail, a door opens in the front and "Shut that door" message is revealed. The back of the lighter shows a blank billboard, to allow for a personalized message or advertising billboard. Aside from its utilitarian function as a lighter this would make a superb addition for the Miniature Building Collector. - More Information
