Description
Pair of French Neoclassical style parcel gilt mahogany pedestals
French, early 20th Century
Height 104cm, width 41cm, depth 33cm
This fine pair of mahogany pedestals is crafted in the Neoclassical style. Each pedestal is of tapering form, widening from bottom to top, and set above a broad foot and surmounted by a flat top. The pedestals are richly adorned with giltwood detailing: Neoclassical accents abound, such as the frieze of foliate scrolls around the top of each, centred with a classicised mask. The remainder of the pedestals are further adorned with giltwood beading, egg-and-dark borders, and rosettes. -
