Pair of Louis XVI style giltwood and marble pedestals
French, late 19th Century
Height 98cm, diameter 35cm
The superb tripod pedestals in this pair are fine examples of the Louis XVI style. The giltwood pedestals feature circular plateaux above aprons adorned with carved floral friezes. The apron of each is supported by three legs, each leg with a scrolled top, an inwardly curving middle section, and a hoof foot. The legs sit on a triangular giltwood base, which in turn is set atop a triangular marble plinth. -
