19th Century Chinoiserie Decorated Trunk

Wonderful early 19th Century Chinese export polychrome painted trunk.

Leather is decorated with chinoiserie scenes of figures in different activities with foliate borders and red ground.

The whole is brass bound and studded, with a camphor interior. A rare example gave the vibrant colour and high-quality detailed decoration.

Circa 1820.
