19th Century German Folk Art Bird Cage
-
Description
A charming late 19th century hand crafted primitive folk art bird cage, in the manner of a chateau, painstakingly detailed with hand painted red brickwork, steps, painted glass windows and balconies. The vaulted roof with painted tiles and blue facade, the time and detailing that has gone into this is incredible, obvious wear to the paint in some areas and the iron struts that make up the bars show some signs of rust, an old repair to the small corner section of roof at the rear of the cage, as shown in the photographs.
There is a small sprung door to the rear for access and the Bird Chateau sits upon four, brick painted legs, a truly beautiful piece of decorative European Folk Ark.
