Hand-blown glass vase from the Murrine Incatenate Series with red and green murrhines by Anzolo Fuga for Arte Vetraria Muranese (A.V.E.M.), Murano Italy, 1960. The soft blue glass of the vase is stunning with the colorful murrhines and yellow rod.
Reference: Anzolo Fuga, Murano Glass Artist, Designs for A.V.E.M. by Rosa Barovier Mentasti, Acanthus Press, 2005, section titled "MURRINE INCATENATE 1959-60,” page 122, describes this series, and shows many similar examples on pages 123-160.
Provenance: Evan Lobel purchased this piece directly from A.V.E.M. in 2001 as part of a large collection of pieces stored there from the 1940’s, 1950’s and 60’s. -
