-
Description
The bronze statue depicts a Turkish warrior with shield and sword. the warrior is shown bare without veils, with a base also made of oval-shaped bronze, acting in a war scene.
Details: Another version of this bronze is preserved in the Germanisches National museum in Nuremberg (inv. no. PI.O.2851), a possible pendant of a Turkish Archer also in the collections of the same museum (inv. no. PI.O.2948) with which it probably formed part of a single sculptural complex.
The condition of the bronze is good overall, with slight signs of dirt and wear due to age. The sword blade, cast separately, has been lost. The bronze is undoubtedly a piece of great historical significance and suitable for all Renaissance-era collectors and amantoi of European German art.
