Brutalist Social Realist Male Industrial Worker Bronze Sculpture
-
Description
An impressive sculpture of a male Industrial Worker in the Social Realism style. Social realism is the term used for an art movement that flourished between the two World Wars. In order to make art more accessible to a wider audience artists created realist portrayals of workers as heroic symbols of strength during a period of hardship after the Great Crash. Reminiscent of American WPA art. This is a brutalist sculpted work of art in excellent condition. Signed and dated on the back 'E. S.' '36' for Ernst Seger (1868-1939) and on the base a Berlin foundry mark. This is a large sculpture and quite heavy over 50lbs!
