    This finely cast and finished pair of French Ormolu candelabras are clearly a work of a master bronzier.
    Each candelabra consisting of an urn decorated with a continuous relief frieze of cherubs goats and garland superbly chased scenes of cherubs at play with goats and garlands, in the manner of Clodion.The handles on each side are accented by Satyr masks, joined by swaging garlands, surmounted by scrolling candle arms and ram heads.

    Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810–1892). Barbadienne was a French metalworker and manufacturer, who was well known as a bronze founder. Between 1850 and 1854 his firm, Barbedienne, provided furnishings in the Renaissance Revival style for the Ho?tel de Ville, Paris. They received numerous medals at the International Exhibitions, including medals in three different classes at the International Exhibition of 1862 in London.
