Description
Free-Standing Barber Pole
American, ca. 1875.
Pine with polychrome paint in red, white, and blue. Cast iron top ornamented with a central finial encompassed by a series of stamped metalwork acanthus leaves. Raised on a canted box plinth.
Fine condition with original paint, weathered and oxidized. The base possibly of a later date.
In a desirable size, this free-standing barber pole is capped with iron to help endure the outdoor elements. Casting stamped A. L. Swett Iron Works, Medina, N.Y.
