French 19th Century Mahogany Revolving Book Stand
-
Description
A fantastic and fun mahogany revolving bookcase, made in France circa 1870. The antique bookcase was made using solid mahogany. Thinly ripped mahogany vertical slats give the antique a look that was ahead of its time. Its incredible lines could have been an inspiration for Frank Lloyd Wright and those involved in the Arts & Crafts style. Each of its four sides have three shelves for arranging all of your favorite books. Wooden dividers can be raised or lowered to accommodate more or less books, acting as built-in bookends. The bookcase revolves while the castered, cruciform base remains in place. The top is outfitted with an adjustable book holder and a wooden platform that swings out to hold a candle. When lifted, the book holder makes a great display for a family Bible or other good book. Fill the piece with your favorite reads and/or decorative objects to create a unique installation that speaks to your interests. Be you a bookworm or bon vivant, this exceptional antique is sure to find a place in your heart and home.
