Description
French Art Deco Cubist Monkey by Gabriel Beauvais 1930s Ceramic
Item #3574
French modernist glazed ceramic monkey sculpture by Gabriel Beauvais,1930. This sculpture was made in a turquoise blue glaze ceramic, a stunning color most likely by Kaza Edition in Paris. The shape and style in the cubist style give a lot of personality to this unique piece.
Sculptor Gabriel Beauvais was particularly known for his animal creations during the Art Deco period. Clearly signed G.Beauvais. The posture of this piece is particularly appealing, crossed arms, hands, and figures lend a rather relaxed feeling to the design. This piece is much more interesting than some of the more typical stylized animals that Beauvais is known for.
