Description
Rare Italian statue in patinated stucco from the first half of the 20th century. The work depicts a vestal with an amphora, probably Hebe, Goddess of youth and handmaiden of the deities who served nectar and ambrosia. In relief on the amphora we find Ganymede and the eagle, a beautiful boy that Jupiter kidnapped by transforming into an eagle and who became the cupbearer of the gods. Some restorations are evident on the neck and left forearm, which has breaks and missing parts (see photo). It bears a GOTT signature engraved on the right calf. Statue of great impact and difficult to find, overall in good condition and beautiful patina.
