    Spread Wing Eagle

    Inscribed, copyrighted/Harriet Frishmuth. Stamped, Gorham Co./Founders’ and ‘Gex’.
    Modeled in 1910, cast by 1921.
    Bronze with dark green patina.
    Excellent condition.
    Provenance: Private Collection of Laguna Niguel, California. Graham Gallery, New York.
    One of the artist’s few animal-themed sculptures, Small Spread Eagle was the first model in a series of three eagle sculptures Harriet Frishmuth created in the early 1910s. The Gorham Foundry produced sixteen bronze casts of the present work through 1921.
