French Art Deco Drinking Panter Sculpture on Black Marble Base Signed Rochard
-
Description
This stunning and glamorous Art Deco panther sculpture was realized in France circa 1935. Hand crafted in lustrous bronze, the piece offers a stylized panther perched forward apparently in the midst of drinking. The feline form is arched forward with one paw extended forward and its tail curled in a streamlined form. The dynamic force and muscularity of this majestic cat is highlighted in the rendition of its form. With its beautiful craftsmanship and clean modernist lines, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Art Deco to contemporary. The panther- an animal renowned for both its power and elegance- was a popular leitmotif in French Art Deco design, and this sculpture is one of the finer examples to come to market. It is presented on a volumetric black marble base and is in excellent vintage condition. Signed Rochard.
