French, 19th Century
Height 22.5cm, width 9cm, depth 6cm
This pair of bottles, attributed to Jacob Petit, is crafted from fine porcelain. Each square-shaped bottle is set above a waisted stem and culminates in a slender neck surmounted by a domed lid. The green-ground porcelain is parcel gilt throughout and is encrusted with a variety of pierced foliate forms. The front and back of the body of each bottle is painted with a scene of everyday life: figures inhabit indoor spaces, the manner and style of which refer to 17th Century painting traditions. - More Information
