Rare & Early James Bearden "Pod Box on Stand" Steel & Blackened Bronze Brutalist
-
Description
Designed and studio-made by American designer and craftsman James Bearden, this pedestal style box offers a unique blend of extraordinary hand-made quality and striking brutalist visual appeal. Made of steel, the base is made by adding more and more material to form the desired shape. The base tapers up into the storage space, which is a cylinder with many steel rods and disks welded on. Then, a bronze finish is added and blackened for the look you see in the final piece. The inside features a surprisingly large 6" diameter interior, enough for most items appropriate.
This piece was gifted to me by the artist in 2017, making it quite early in his production. The added benefit of this is that the piece you see in these photos is the actual piece you'll get in the mail, and it will arrive much quicker than the ones made to order. COA available, along with a number of other early Bearden pieces.
In original, very good condition. I never used it, so practically nonexistent wear and tear. -
