Land Speed Record Sunbeam Streamlined Race Car Daytona Beach
-
Description
In 1927 the Sunbeam 1000 HP was the first race car to go faster than 200 mph in Daytona Beach Florida. The great Sir Henry Segrave was the driver. The car was designed by Captain Jack Irving, it had one engine ahead of the driver and one behind. This model was originally a toy made by Kingsbury pressed steel toys, USA and was operated by a clockwork motor. It was repurposed by a French machinist, the clockwork motor was replaced with gas powered diesel engine. This unique example is from the collection of Henri Chemin an accomplished race car driver and former director of Chrysler France's race team. This is very impressive one of kind streamlined sculpture. These cars can be raced and are capable of reaching speeds of over 60 mph. We are selling this as a decorative object for the office or home. If you do wish to run it, it should be operated only in a very controlled environment by someone experienced in operating this type of toy. This model has never actually been raced..
