Mercedes-Benz Race Car Formula 1 Bronze Presentation Sculpture 1955
-
Description
We offer for sale a presentation model of a Mercedes Benz formula 1 streamliner race car from 1955. This is one of 50 models commissioned by Mercedes Benz to commemorate their race successes from 1952 to 1955. Given as gifts to drivers & dignitaries, these were not sold to the public. The bronze was cast by the Hans Mayr foundry in Munich, Germany & designed by their chief sculptor Helmut Hiltmann in 1955. This example is in very good condition. The bronze has some age patina & the steering wheel is slightly bent to one side. It can be corrected by a good metal smith. The marble base has a couple of small chips at one corner & what looks like a small repair to one side, hard to tell. Overall a beautiful display piece for the office or den.
