Description
This beautifully made Mid-Century Carved Female Bust in Ebony Hardwood W/ Herringbone Pattern originates from Kenya, Circa 1960. This sculpture is carved from a single piece of ebony hardwood with a deep and alluring hue and well handled surface. The base is minimally rendered, tapering at the neck of the figure. The facial features are traditionally depicted with minimal angular crescent eyes and geometric features, with a pronounced oval shaped face. Rising from the crest of the figure's head and falling beside is an arrowhead shaped element with stunning herringbone carved linear detailing, perhaps depicting hair or traditional headwear. A gorgeous example of African Art from the 20th Century, this piece will style beautifully in a wide array of spaces and settings, from Mid-Century Modernist to Contemporary and Minimal Interiors. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
