Modern sterling silver box, ca 1935. Rectangular with straight sides and curved corners. Cover hinged with tapering tab. Cedar lined interior and leather-lined underside.
On cover top engraved presentation: “A.I.F. Unit Competitions / 1937 / Engineers & Signallers / Winner / P. C. Goldstein / 1st Div. Sig.Coy.” Enamel crisscrossing flags of which one for the Royal Australian Corps of Signals. A poignant between-the-wars prize awarded by the Australian Imperial Force. At this time the Engineers and Signallers Unit comprised a chummy couple thousand members. A few years later, more than 32,000 were deployed to Asia, the Pacific, and North Africa. Marked. Very good condition.
