Description
All vessels by Onka Allmayer-Beck are handcrafted and unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Onka Allmayer-Beck is a ceramic artist based in Vienna, Austria. At the centre of her work are vessels in the broadest sense, which often combine several functions, for example as vases, bowls and candlesticks. In their unique grace, however, they are never just everyday objects but above all a piece of art. Allmayer-Beck finds inspiration for her designs by vague ideas in everyday life as well as during the work with the Material, the clay, itself. Through roughened areas under the smooth surface, the artist experiments with haptic contrasts and gives her creature’s additional character. Hence, the imperfect and intuitive aesthetics of Allmayer-Beck's become a distinctive feature of her work. Eventually they can be seen as a handcrafted and thus highly unique piece of art - a beautiful contrast to the flawlessly manufactured, yet often soulless objects sold nowadays. Allmayer-Beck's works have a strong recognition value and are meanwhile appreciated by international customers, art collectors and interior designers.
