Description
Pair of malachite and gilt bronze stands in the Neoclassical style
French, 20th Century
Height 88cm, width 47cm, depth 39cm
Each pedestal in this pair, wrought from gilt bronze and malachite, is based on the shape of a Classical Greek tripod. Each pedestal features a flat circular malachite top, set with gilt bronze classicising mounts. This top, with a protruding belly beneath, is supported by three gilt bronze legs, each leg culminating in a hoof foot and mounted to the top with a goat’s head mask. The legs are raised on a tripartite malachite base, set with conforming classicising gilt bronze mounts. -
